- 2022 MLS Cup MVP John McCarthy starts in goal in his debut for the LA Galaxy. McCarthy, who started in goal for Inter in the first-ever meeting between the Galaxy and Miami on April 18, 2021, posted four shutouts in eight matches played during LAFC’s run to the 2022-23 Concacaf Champions League Final, earning Golden Glove honors and being named to the Concacaf Champions League Best XI.
- Japanese International defender Miki Yamane starts at right back in his debut for the LA Galaxy. Yamane was named to the J1 League Best XI in three consecutive seasons (2020, 2021, 2022), and helped Kawasaki Frontale earn two J1 League titles (2021, 2020), two Emperor’s Cup titles (2020, 2023) and one Japanese Super Cup (2021).
- Japanese International defender Maya Yoshida captains the Galaxy in tonight’s match. Yoshida tallied one goal and one assist in 12 appearances (12 starts) for the Galaxy in league play last year. Notably, Yoshida’s Japan beat Sergio Busquets’s Spain in a 2-1 come-from-behind win in the Group Stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on Dec. 1, 2022.
- Starting alongside Yoshida is Uruguayan National Team legend Martín Cáceres, who recorded two goals in 18 appearances (18 starts) across all competitions in his second season with the LA Galaxy.
- Argentine youth international defender Julián Aude gets the start at left back. Aude notched one goal in 27 appearances (18 starts) across all competitions for the Galaxy during the 2023 season.
- Edwin Cerrillo gets the start as the holding midfielder for LA. Cerrillo logged. Cerrillo tallied three assists in 30 appearances (24 starts) across 2,171 minutes played split between FC Dallas and LA Galaxy during the 2023 MLS Regular Season. Cerrillo logged one assist in 11 regular-season appearances (10 starts) during the 2023 campaign for the Galaxy.
- Mark Delgado makes his 60th regular-season appearance for the Galaxy in tonight’s match. Delgado has tallied 21 goals and 31 assists in 277 career MLS regular-season appearances (241 starts).
- 2023 MLS All-Star Riqui Puig gets the start in midfield for LA. Puig recorded seven goals and eight assists in 29 games played (28 starts) during the 2023 MLS Regular Season. Puig finished the 2023 campaign ranked first amongst all players in MLS in touches (2,752) and successful passes entering the final third (640), second in dribbles completed (92) and passes completed (1,892) and sixth in chances created from open play (55).
- Ghanaian International winger Joseph Paintsil makes his LA Galaxy and MLS debut in tonight’s match against Miami. The Accra, Ghana, native totaled 32 goal contributions (18 goals, 14 assists) in 39 matches played across all competitions for Genk during the 2022-23 campaign.
- Diego Fagundez, who has tallied 69 goals and 71 assists in 358 career regular-season appearances (268 starts) across 13 seasons played in MLS (2011-Present), gets the start on the left wing for LA. Fagundez recorded three goals and six assists in 30 league appearances (20 starts) split between the LA Galaxy and Austin FC during the 2023 MLS Regular Season.
- Serbian International forward Dejan Joveljić, who now has played the most matches across all competitions (89) on the current Galaxy roster, gets the start up top. In 89 games played (37 starts) across all competitions in three seasons with the Galaxy (2021-23), Joveljić has tallied 33 goal contributions (23 goals, 10 assists).
