The Hero of the Match presented by Pirnia Law for August 26 is Sergeant Araceli Talavera.
Sergeant Talavera joined the Army Reserve in 2018 and deployed in 2021 to Bagram Airfield Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedoms Sentinel. While in Afghanistan, she worked as a casualty liaison at the Craig Joint Theater Hospital. Following the closure of Afghanistan, she continued to support retrograde and evacuation operations as a Battalion S1 in Kuwait. There she was able to support over 100 Soldiers deployed in Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, and Qatar. She now continues to serve as an HR NCO for the 311th Signal Command (Theater) Support Unit in Tustin, CA.
Some of her awards include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
