United States Army Veteran Specialist Cindy Thai is our Hero of the Match for April 12 against Houston Dynamo FC.
Specialist Thai is a U.S. Army veteran, first-generation college graduate, and community advocate dedicated to supporting veterans and underserved communities. She enlisted in 2017, specializing in fire control systems, database management, and artillery operations. She played a crucial role in testing these systems for capability and performance and troubleshooting equipment issues.
During field training, Thai efficiently supported numerous fire mission operations, directly aiding ground infantry and tank units.
Her leadership earned her a battalion coin of achievement for being a pivotal factor in securing the highest scores during artillery proficiency skills testing. She received a 100% first-time pass on her key control evaluation, helped a new chief qualify during artillery tables all while acting as a leader in her supervisor’s absence.
After her service, she attended the University of Southern California. She also serves as an Assistant Program Coordinator at USC’s Veteran Resource Center and Vice President of the USC Student Veterans Association, mentoring veterans and business students.
Some of her awards include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and from USC the Distinguished Service Award from City of Los Angeles, Order of The Laurel & The Palm.
