Originally from Annandale, Virgina, Nguyen attended and graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2021 with a B.S. in Management and an unlimited 100-ton master license.
After graduation, Nguyen was commissioned as an Ensign in the U.S. Coast Guard and spent two years sailing onboard the USCGC SENECA, as a Deck Watch Officer. She supported the drug interaction, living marine resources, and search and rescue missions of the Coast Guard from the North Atlantic to the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Nguyen is the proud daughter of Vietnamese Refugee parents and is currently, an Apprentice Marine Inspector with the Inspections Division at the Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach in San Pedro, California. This is where she examines foreign-flagged vessels in the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.
Some of Nguyen’s awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon.
