Originally from Pennsylvania, Sergeant Melvin Smith II started his military career in the United States Air Force as an enlisted Aircrew member. After completed basic military training in Texas, he was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. From there he retrained into the communications career field and was moved to Hill Air Force Base in Utah.
While in Utah, he was deployed to Afghanistan for six months and transferred into the United States Space Force. He then received order for a short tour serving twelve months at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. He is currently stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base as the Special Projects Non-Commissioned Officer for the installation commander.
His most recent awards include winning the Airman Leadership School Academic Achievement Award and being recognized as the Torrance Chamber of Commerce Hidden Hero. He is also the President of a private organization that supports all junior enlisted members across the base.
