Bryan Jordan

How Acquired: Signed by the Galaxy on March 25, 2008.

A versatile speedster who began his career as a forward and has now found a home at right back, Jordan continues to learn and adapt to the position while bringing the tricks of the trade that he learned as a forward and a winger to his new position. One of the longest tenured players on the club as he enters his fifth season in LA, he remains one of the most athletic players in Bruce Arena’s squad.

MLS Highlights

2011: Played in 13 games for the Galaxy during the regular season, making a career-high five starts while recording two assists. Both assists came in the 3-0 home win over Vancouver on 9/17, setting up goals for Robbie Keane and Mike Magee. He also appeared in a pair of U.S. Open Cup games and three CONCACAF Champions League matches, however he missed the last month of the regular season and the postseason after rupturing a tendon in a finger on his left hand at New York on 10/4. 2010: Made just eight appearances and two starts in his third season with the Galaxy, with both of the starts coming at right back, a position that he had not played before at the professional level. He made his season debut in the 2-1 win vs. Real Salt Lake on 4/17, replacing the injured Sean Franklin. He then came on for the injured A.J. DeLaGarza late in the 1-0 win at Colorado on 5/5 before starting the next two games. He was the right back for LA in the 4-0 win at Seattle on 5/8 and then again for the 0-0 home draw with Toronto FC on 5/15. The Galaxy allowed just one goal with him on the field in the regular season, with the club going 5-1-2 in the eight games that he played. He also saw action in three Open Cup or Champions League games, playing the full 90 minutes in both of LA’s Open Cup games and also starting the 2-1 win at Puerto Rico on 8/4 in the second leg of their CONCACAF Champions League Preliminary Round Series. 2009: Appeared in a career-high 19 games during his second season with the Galaxy, scoring one goal and establishing himself as one of Bruce Arena’s first options off the bench. He was in the 18-man squad for 29 of LA’s 30 regular season games, coming of the bench a team-high 17 times. He scored his only goal of the season late on 4/18 to give the Galaxy a 1-1 draw at San Jose. He started and played the full 120 minutes in the U.S. Open Cup Play-In Game defeat vs. Colorado on 4/7, converting his penalty kick in the game’s deciding shootout. Jordan scored the Galaxy’s second goal in the 2-2 draw vs. AC Milan on 7/19, heading home a David Beckham corner kick. 2008: Split his rookie season in MLS between Los Angeles and Portland, spending much of the summer on loan to the Timbers. Made his MLS debut as a second half substitute in the 2-1 loss vs. New York on 5/10. Made his second appearance and first start on 9/6 vs. Real Salt Lake and scored the first goal of his career in the 9th minute, making him the first Galaxy player to score in his first career start since Kevin Harmse on 4/28/07. He added an assist in the second half of that game, setting up Edson Buddle for the game-tying goal in the 2-2 draw. He went on to start three more matches on the season to finish the year with seven appearances and four starts. Jordan made seven appearances for the Galaxy Reserves, scoring a team-high four goals.

USL First Division Highlights

2008: Had three separate loan spells with the Timbers, appearing in nine games. Jordan scored three goals while adding two assists in those nine games to finish tied for second on the team in each statistic. He was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week on three occasions. 2007: Jordan played 1,506 minutes in 26 matches as a rookie with the Portland Timbers. He scored five goals and added one assist in league play, as well as one postseason tally. He also added three other goals in friend- lies. He was a twice named to the USL First Division Team of the Week, doing so in Week 4 after scoring his first goal of the year in a 2-2 draw with Seattle and then again two weeks later when he scored one goal and set up a second in a 2-0 home win over California. He scored first professional goal in an exhibition game against Mexico’s Necaxa on 5/9, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win. He added two more goals in a 4-1 win over Toronto FC in October, scoring both goals within three minutes of entering the match early as a substitute in the first half.

College Highlights

Played four years at Oregon State where he played alongside Galaxy teammate Alan Gordon as a freshman. Jordan scored 15 goals in 68 career games for the Beavers, including five goals in both his junior and senior seasons, placing him second on the team in goals each year. A two-time Pac-10 All-Academic first team selection, Jordan also earned an All-Pac-10 honorable mention as a senior in 2006. He scored with the first touch of his college career against Gonzaga and went on to establish himself as one of the Beavers’ top scoring threats.

National Team

Was called into the U.S. Under-23 National Team for the Toulon International Tournament, appearing one game. He made his U.S. debut in the 1-0 loss to the Ivory Coast, playing 71 minutes up front before being replaced by Ellis McLoughlan. His call-up to the team was his first-ever inclusion with the National Team at any level.
