How Acquired: Signed by the Galaxy as a Homegrown Player on January 31, 2011

McBean, now 21, signed with the Galaxy as a 16-year-old homegrown player. McBean, signing to the first team as the youngest player to ever sign for the club, will serve as captain for Los Dos in 2016. After being injured in 2014, McBean made 21 starts in 26 appearances for Los Dos in a full 2015 season spent with the club. Last season, McBean tallied five goals and six assists in just under 2,000 minutes. McBean will captain Galaxy II this year.

MLS Highlights

2016: After an electric start with LA Galaxy II in 2016 that saw him score 15 goals in 17 games, Jack McBean was re-signed to a first team contract with LA Galaxy on June 22. McBean played in two matches, including one start against Colorado Rapids on June 22, before he was loaned to EFL League One side Coventry City on Aug. 19 through the end of the Galaxy’s season.

2014: McBean was loaned to LA Galaxy II in USL for a majority of the year, where he helped the club to a USL Playoff Semifinal appearance as one of the leading strikers on the team.

2013: He scored his second career league goal against Chivas USA (3/17), and later added two assists during a string of five straight starts in MLS. In CONCACAF Champions League play, McBean netted the opening goal and subsequently recorded two assists in the Galaxy’s victory against C.S. Cartaginés. After the end of the season, McBean went on a two-week training stint to England with League One side Wolverhampton Wanderers and Football League Championship club Blackburn Rovers.

2012: McBean made one appearance in MLS this season, but finished as the club’s leading goal scorer in the CONCACAF Champions League, tallying three goals in two appearances. Additionally, he was also the team’s leading scorer with the LA Galaxy’s reserve team, where he collected five goals and one assist in the total of eight games that he played.

2011: Joined the Galaxy in January as the club’s first Homegrown player since Tristan Bowen in 2008. He made his debut in the 18 man squad on 7/20 against Columbus, but he did not come on in that game. He made his first team debut four days later when he played the second half of the friendly against Manchester City as part of the Herbalife World Football Challenge. He made his MLS debut in the regular season finale against Houston, playing the full 90 minutes up front in that game to become the youngest player in club history ever to start and play in a game. He scored LA’s only goal in the 88th minute of that game to become, at 16 years and 312 days old, the youngest player in club history to score a goal by more than two years. In addition, McBean led the Galaxy with four assists in the Reserve League, appearing in five game while making four starts.

Academy Highlights

2011: Continued to play for the Galaxy U-16’s after signing with the first team, helping them win the first Development Academy championship in club history. He scored in the Semifinal win over Seattle after returning from the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico. 2010: Officially joined the Galaxy Academy U-16 team in the summer of 2010. Debuted for the team at the 2010 SUM U-17 Cup in Houston, playing in two of the Galaxy’s three games at the tournament. He made his U.S. Soccer Development Academy debut in a 4-0 win over Real Salt Lake in Arizona, scoring a goal. He went on to record a team-best nine goals in 10 games for the Galaxy U-16’s, helping them to a 10-0-1 record in Development Academy play, which was the best amongst all U- 16 teams. McBean scored a goal in six of the 10 games that he played in, including a hat trick against South Carolina United FC at the annual Winter Showcase in Arizona. While at the Showcase, McBean also played in one of the Academy Select games, which brings a number of the nation’s top young players together on the same field. In that game, McBean scored just five minutes after entering the match, leading his team to a 2-1 win.

National Team

Was named as one of 40 players selected for the U.S. Soccer Under-17 National Team Residency Program in January 2011, shortly before signing with the Galaxy. He travelled to Florida with the U-17’s and made his international debut in a friendly in Montego Bay, Jamaica on 1/28/11. He made a series of friendly appearances ahead of the start of the CONCACAF Championships and then played in four of the five games that the U.S. played in the tournament, making two starts and setting up all three goals in the 3- 0 win over Canada in the Final. He was one of 20 players named to the U.S. squad for the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Mexico and made one appearance at the tournament, coming one in the second half of the Round of 16 loss to Germany.
