CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Academy defender Ian Lonergan will start at left back for LA Galaxy II for their first game of the 2017 USL campaign on Saturday against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
The 17-year-old Manhattan Beach native has been a member of the Galaxy Academy for two seasons and made 25 appearances, scoring three times for the Galaxy U-18’s during their 2016-17 campaign. Lonergan will be joined by fellow Academy defender Jake Arteaga who will be on the bench for Los Dos. Arteaga, a 16-year-old from Glendora, has made 13 appearances for the Galaxy U-18 this season.
Los Dos’ presently have 13 players signed to USL contracts which will allow players from the LA Galaxy first team and Galaxy Academy to fill out the rest of the squad. Per USL rules, all LA Galaxy Academy players are available to feature throughout the 2017 USL season.
