MIDFIELD PLAY MUST IMPROVE AFTER LOSS TO REVOLUTION
The LA Galaxy’s midfield play continued to struggle as the Galaxy dropped their fifth consecutive loss on Saturday.
Los Angeles’ midfield endured a rough day as the Revolution dispossessed the visitors 21 times on Saturday—a whopping 13 occurring in the center of the park. New England also held the edge in duels, winning 50 to Los Angeles’ 44. The Revs made the Galaxy pay for their inability to hold onto the ball as they repeatedly created dangerous chances through the middle of the pitch.
The Galaxy face a tough challenge next week when they take on Seattle Sounders FC at home in a match that will be vital for the team’s fortunes going forward.
DANIEL STERES HAS HIMSELF A DAY WITH BRACE IN LOSING EFFORT
The LA Galaxy’s offense came from an unlikely place on Saturday as Daniel Steres notched a brace in the Galaxy’s defeat.
Steres helped the Galaxy twice erase advantages by the home side in opposite halves. In each tally, Steres’ size proved to be decisive as he twice leaped over Revolution defenders to put the Galaxy on the board.
The goals helped cap off roundabout evening from Steres and the Galaxy defense that conceded four times to the Revolution attack.
RAFAEL GARCIA AND ARIEL LASSITER GET MLS FIRSTS
Rafael Garcia and Ariel Lassiter enjoyed career milestones on Saturday.
The central midfield stalwart from Northridge registered his first career MLS assist in the Galaxy’s loss in New England. Garcia’s first assist of his six-year career came in the 22nd minute when he found Roman Alessandrini to spark the sequence that led to Los Angeles’ first goal of the evening.
Garcia wasn’t alone, however, as Ariel Lassiter notched his first career MLS goal late in the Galaxy’s defeat. Lassiter now has four tallies in all competitions this season. The two will be needed as the Galaxy head down the stretch run and try to find a way out of their recent slide.
