LOS ANGELES (Sunday, July 30, 2017) – LA Galaxy II (4-11-4, 16 points) earned their first three-game unbeaten streak of the season with a 1-1 draw against OKC Energy FC (6-8-5, 23 points) on Sunday night at the StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium.
LA Galaxy II got things started in the 41st minute, quickly countering off a OKC Energy FC corner. In the fifteen seconds that followed the corner kick, Alejandro Covarrubias and Raul Mendiola linked up to push the ball past midfield and up to the feet of Ariel Lassiter, who carried it to the top of the box and banked in a left-footed strike off the post from just outside the top of the box.
Los Dos kept the lead and the pressure on OKC in the early part of the second half, but their lead was undone in the 75th minute when Lassiter stuck his foot in to challenge OKC Energy FC forward Andy Craven in LA’s penalty box. Craven earned a penalty call and buried the equalizer.
Eight LA Galaxy players participated in the match for Los Dos with Sigi Schmid in attendance to watch the match: Jon Kempin, Hugo Arellano, Bradley Diallo, Nathan Smith, Ariel Lassiter, Jaime Villarreal, Raul Mendiola and Bradford Jamieson IV.
