LOS ANGELES (Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017) – LA Galaxy II (7-13-4, 25 points) defeated Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (7-12-7, 28 points) 1-0 at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium on Sunday evening.
LA Galaxy II got on the board early when Ariel Lassiter blasted a golazo from distance in the 21st minute, lacing a left-footed strike into the top corner from over 30 yards out. The goal marked Lassiter’s fourth of the season and extended his goal streak to three games.
LA entered the half up 1-0, and continued to threaten with a flurry of chances on RGVFC in the second half. The Toros were close to finding an equalizer late in the match, but the young LA side showed maturity and collected their fourth shutout of the season.
LA Galaxy’s Ariel Lassiter, Jack McBean, Jose Villarreal, Raul Mendiola, Nathan Smith and Hugo Arellano all started the match.
