OLA KAMARA BAGS HIS FIRST GOAL
The LA Galaxy’s newest striker Ola Kamara notched his first goal in a Galaxy uniform in an impressive showing during Saturday’s clash with New York City FC.
Kamara opened his Galaxy account in the ninth minute when he capitalized on a poor clearance from an NYCFC defender. Perhaps the most impressive part of Kamara’s finish was his casual approach, leaping off the ground before striking the ball on the volley.
Throughout his 45-minute appearance, Kamara looked dangerous, repeatedly threatening the NYCFC back four. Sigi Schmid will certainly be pleased to see his star striker get off the mark in preseason.
TOMAS HILLIARD-ARCE SHINES IN VICTORY
Tomas Hilliard-Arce showed flashes of why he was rated so highly in the 2018 MLS Super Draft during the Galaxy’s victory over NYCFC.
Hilliard-Arce found the back of the net and provided a calm presence in central defense during the second 45 minutes of the Galaxy’s 3-0 victory Saturday evening. A weapon in the air during his time at Stanford, Hilliard-Arce demonstrated his goal scoring prowess in the 70th minute when he confidently nodded home a Baggio Husidic cross into the net for his first goal of the preseason.
Still behind in the depth chart, the rookie has a way to go to earn a place in the Galaxy’s starting group, but his showing against NYCFC was a real positive for the No. 2 selection in last month's draft.
SEBASTIAN LLETGET RE-GAINING HIS TOUCH
Sebastian Lletget took another step forward in his recovery from injury on Saturday.
Lletget came close to finding the back of the net three times in an effervescent 36-minute cameo against NYCFC. During his second-half shift, the 25-year-old midfielder looked self-assured as his technical skill vexed the New York defense and nearly led to several goals for the San Francisco native.

Head coach Sigi Schmid was among those impressed with Lletget stating that he almost left the talented attacker in the game for a full 45 minutes due to his effectiveness in front of goal. Following the match, Lletget was all smiles, appearing confident that better days are still ahead after a lengthy injury rehab.
