SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The LA Galaxy defeated USL side Fresno FC, 3-1 in a preseason exhibition contest at Harder Stadium on the campus of U.C. Santa Barbara on Thursday.
Sebastian Lletget, Chris Pontius, and Tomas Hilliard-Arce scored for the Galaxy, while Renato Bustamante found the back of the net for the visitors.
Bustamante opened the scoring for the Foxes in the 19th minute after an impressive start for the USL squad. The Galaxy equalized in the 26th minute when Lletget punched in a deflection off a Dave Romney pass.
Pontius, a UCSB alum, put the Galaxy ahead in the 56th minute with a close-range finish. Schmid’s squad capped off the clash with a third goal in the 77th minute when Hilliard-Arce nodded home a corner to seal the victory.
Los Angeles resume their preseason preparations on Saturday when they face San Jose Earthquakes at Orange County Great Park.
