CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy midfielder Jonathan dos Santos missed out on the team’s 2-0 defeat to Atlanta United with a calf injury picked up in warmups.
Dos Santos was slated to start the match, but midway through the team’s warmup, the 27-year-old pulled up with an injury. With dos Santos unable to play, head coach Sigi Schmid inserted Baggio Husidic into the starting lineup.
Following the match, Schmid explained dos Santos’ absence.
“You’ve got to talk to Jonathan [Dos Santos]," Schmid told reporters. "He felt something in warm-ups and didn’t feel that he could go. It looked like he almost thought he could go. He consulted with our trainers, consulted with his brother and others, and felt he couldn’t go.”
