LA Galaxy forward Giovani dos Santos and midfielder Jonathan dos Santos have been named by Mexican National Team Head Coach Juan Carlos Osorio to the team’s 23-man roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™, the Mexican Football Federation announced today.
Giovani and Jonathan join Mexico for their 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ Group Stage games against Germany (June 17), South Korea (June 23) and Sweden (June 27) and will stay for as long as Mexico remains in the tournament. The 2018 FIFA World Cup will begin on June 14, 2018 with the Final set for July 15, 2018.
Giovani dos Santos, 29, has made over 100 appearances for Mexico and played in two previous World Cups (2010, 2014). He joins Mexico’s World Cup roster as one of the most experienced players, making his international debut over 10 years ago. In all, he has scored 19 goals and recorded 23 assists for the Mexican National Team.
Jonathan dos Santos, 28, has made 36 appearances all time for Mexico since his debut in 2009, including three assists. The 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ marks Jonathan’s first World Cup, recently featuring heavily for Mexico during CONCACAF Qualifiers and last year’s 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia.
