LOS ANGELES (Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018) – LA Galaxy Forward Zlatan Ibrahimović was voted the Alcatel Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the 22nd week of the 2018 MLS season.
Last week, Ibrahimović recorded three goals and two assists during the LA Galaxy’s two games, helping the Galaxy earn four total points against LAFC and Orlando City SC.
LA Galaxy drew LAFC 2-2 at Banc of California Stadium on Thursday, with the help from Ibrahimović’s assist in the 82nd minute to make the score 2-1. On Sunday at StubHub Center, Ibrahimović recorded his first MLS hat trick along with an assist against Orlando City SC when the Galaxy defeated Orlando 4-3, increasing the team’s unbeaten streak to nine. LA Galaxy sit third in the Western Conference with 35 points (10-7-5 overall record).
Ibrahimović is the league’s second top goal scorer with 15 goals. In all, Ibrahimović has recorded 15 goals and six assists in just 17 appearances (14 starts), including five game-winning goals.
LA Galaxy return to action on Saturday, August 4 to face Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (6 p.m. PT, Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum Deportes).
