LA Galaxy II have signed former UCLA and SC Paderborn forward Mohammed Kamara, the club announced today pending league and federation approval and receipt of his ITC. Kamara, 21, returns to Southern California from recently promoted Bundesliga team SC Paderborn.
“We are very excited to welcome Mohammed to the LA Galaxy organization,” said LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese. “He is a talented forward coming from UCLA and SC Paderborn with good potential and experience. We will look to foster his continued development within our club, utilizing our incredible resources and staff to help him become a top player."
Kamara joined Paderborn recently, moving from UCLA to the German club in January of 2019. In his short time with the Bundesliga team, Kamara made seven appearances with Paderborn’s second team in the Oberliga Westfalen. The Sinkor, Liberia, native started in all seven matches he appeared in, tallying an impressive eight goals and one assist, an average of one goal every 71 minutes. In his only season at UCLA, Kamara was equally important to his squad, appearing in 14 matches and starting 11. In those appearances, he scored five times, assisting once.
LA Galaxy II will return to Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, Aug. 3 to host USL Championship and fellow Western Conference side Phoenix Rising FC at 7 p.m. PT. Tickets to the match are available at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets/lagalaxyii.
