Adonis Amaya, Jorge Ruiz, Hanif Wright enjoy big weekends for the LA Galaxy Academy

CARSON, Calif.— Adonis Amaya, Jorge Ruiz and Hanif Wright all found the back of the net multiple times this past weekend for the LA Galaxy Academy.


Amaya, the 16-year-old Galaxy Academy U-18 forward, followed up last week’s four goal performance against San Diego Surf with a brace against Strikers FC in Saturday’s 3-1 win at Anteater Stadium on the campus of University of California, Irvine. Amaya, who is in his first season with the Galaxy Academy, currently leads the U-18’s in scoring with a team-high seven goals through five games.


Ruiz, 15, scored two goals in two games for the Galaxy U-16’s this weekend. The first was an equalizer in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Striker FC while the second one was the game-winner in Sunday’s 2-1 over Real Salt Lake-Arizona. Ruiz who spent most of last season in U.S. Soccer’s U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla., is off to a great start with the Galaxy Academy this season as he currently lead’s the U-16’s with five goals in five games.


Wright, 14, scored three of the Galaxy U-14’s five goals in Saturday’s 5-1 win over the Strikers FC U-14’s at Anteater Stadium on the campus of University of California, Irvine. He now has four goals through four games this season. Wright is the younger brother of Galaxy Academy U-16 forward Haji Wright, who is taking part in U.S. Soccer’s U-17 Residency Program in Bradenton, Fla. The younger Wright was not the only sibling to score a hat trick last week as the elder Wright also scored three goals for the U.S. U-17 in an international friendly against Spanish-side Rayo Vallecano’s U-17 team.
