Field set for national finals of Sueño MLS 2013

NEW YORK & LOS ANGELES (Monday, April 29, 2013) – Major League Soccer announced today the final roster of 15 talented young field players and three “Good Hands” top goalkeeper - El Portero Allstate finalists, who will compete in the National Finals of Sueño MLS 2013 – Presented by Allstate. The field was set yesterday at the LA Galaxy tryouts, when the last six participants were selected by MLS and the LA Galaxy.


The 18 National Finalists will head to The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA from May 9 to 12 for four days of competition and mentoring by soccer legends such as Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama. The Sueño MLS 2013 – Presented by Allstate winner and the Allstate “Good Hands top goalkeeper - El Portero Allstate – will be announced May 12 live on Univision Network’s República Deportiva, which has chronicled the competition in a “reality show within a show” format.

Now in its seventh year, open tryouts for Sueño MLS 2013 – Presented by Allstate were staged by three Major League Soccer teams, including first-time host Colorado Rapids, as well as returning hosts D.C. United and LA Galaxy.  Up to 500 tryout spots were made available in each city on a first come, first served basis, where five field players were chosen by club scouts to represent the team at the National Finals.


In addition, the Allstate “Good Hands” top goalkeeper award - El Portero Allstate - is being presented for the third consecutive year. One goalkeeper at each of the three local tryouts was selected as a goalkeeper finalist and will compete in the National Finals for the opportunity to be named El Portero Allstate and train with an MLS team.  El Portero Allstate will be selected in conjunction with the winner of Sueño MLS 2013 – Presented by Allstate, andwill be mentored by Mexican goalkeeping legend and Republica Deportiva co-host, Felix Fernandez.
