As the parents of Cooper and the founders of the Cooper Steinhauser Foundation, Haley and Edward have dedicated their time and resources to supporting neonatal intensive care units and the families that find themselves within the neonatal ICU. The Cooper Steinhauser Foundation was established in honor of Cooper Steinhauser, who passed away in 2022. Cooper was born on February 19, 2022 at just 25 and a half weeks and weighing 1 pound 15 ounces. After 82 days in the neonatal ICU, Cooper passed away on May 11, 2022 but his impact on the world continues today through his parents.
Haley and Edward have focused their efforts in supporting neonatal ICU staff and patient families through resources and advocacy. The organization provides care packages to families and staff, direct funding for medical needs, and resources for families so that they can navigate their neonatal ICU journey. It supports ten hospitals across three states – including Dignity Health’s St. Mary’s Medical Center here in Long Beach.
