CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, April 13, 2015) – LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for the sixth week of the 2015 MLS season. It is Penedo’s first time earning MLS Player of the Week honors.
Penedo earned his 13th clean sheet with the Galaxy Sunday at StubHub Center when he kept Seattle scoreless in a 1-0 victory behind 10 saves, a new career high. The veteran goalkeeper was one save shy of tying the Galaxy’s all-time single game club record of 11 saves set by Kevin Hartman in 2003. It marked the first time since 2009 that the Galaxy recorded 10 saves in a match.
In his career with the Galaxy, Penedo has made 41 starts in net, posting a 20-9-12 record while recording 124 saves, 13 shutouts and a 1.05 GAA.
