CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Jan. 30, 2014) – LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo has been called up to the Panamanian National Team for a friendly match at StubHub Center against the United States on Sunday, Feb. 8 live on ESPN and UniMas, with kickoff set for 1 p.m. PT.
Penedo, 33, has made 100 appearances for his native Panama, including matches in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the CONCACAF Gold Cup and UNCAF Nations Cup. Penedo started in 29 MLS Regular Season matches last year and all five playoff games en route to winning the 2014 MLS Cup. Since joining the Galaxy in 2013, the veteran shot stopper has a 19-8-11 record and a 1.05 goals against average in addition to 12 shutouts.
Penedo and Panama will face a U.S. Men’s National Team side featuring LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Gyasi Zardes, who earned his first call-up for the senior team earlier this month.
