With the Galaxy defending a 3-0 lead on the road against the Seattle Sounders, Jaime Penedo came up big to preserve the shutout victory over the MLS leaders, earning him a nomination for Week 20’s MLS Save of the Week.
Clint Dempsey found space around the 18 before firing a bending shot that was headed for the far post, but Penedo made a diving save to his right to punch it away from danger. Penedo is 11-5-9 as a starter and has recorded 96 saves since joining the Galaxy last season.
Penedo joins Raul Fernandez (DAL), Evan Bush (MTL), Stefan Frei (SEA) and Joe Bendik (TOR) on the ballot for MLS Save of the Week for Week 20.
