CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, April 28, 2015) – LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week for Week 8 for his denial of a point-blank shot from Bradley Wright-Phillips Sunday at Red Bull Arena.

Shortly after the Galaxy took a 1-0 lead, Penedo kept the Galaxy ahead when he denied BWP from close range. New York found space on the right side before sending in a cross to Wright-Phillips, the MLS-leading goal scorer in 2014, who fired a shot from just yards out. The Panamanian goalkeeper showed lightning reflexes to block the shot with his knee as the Galaxy earned a 1-1 draw on the road.

Fans can vote for Penedo here. The winner will be announced on Friday.

Penedo goes up against Jeff Attinella (RSL), Ryan Meara (NYC), David Ousted (VAN), Donovan Ricketts (POR).

Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursday. For complete coverage of the MLS Save of the Week – including an archive of all of this season’s nominees and winners – click here
