LA Galaxy Goal of the Year presented by Tire Pros
Juninho’s goal against the Seattle Sounders Nov. 30th was voted the 2014 LA Galaxy Goal of the Year presented by Tire Pros. The Brazilian midfielder’s goal came in the second leg of the Western Conference Championship on the road at CenturyLink Field and was enough to put the Galaxy through to the 2014 MLS Cup.
Down 2-0 at the start of the second half, the Galaxy earned a corner kick. Landon Donovan cross in a ball that found Juninho after being flicked on by defender Omar Gonzalez. The midfielder lined up a shot and fired a rocket with one touch outside the 18 as the ball that bounced off the inside of the post and in past a diving Stefan Frei. The Galaxy held on and went on to advance to the 2014 MLS Cup on away goals with a 2-2 aggregate score line, winning a record fifth MLS Cup championship.
Juninho won with 33% of the vote, beating out Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, who finished second and third respectively.
