CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Jan. 9, 2015) – The LA Galaxy Academy Under-18’s and Under-16’s will resume U.S. Soccer Development Academy action when the teams host Strikers FC at StubHub Center’s Track and Field Stadium on Saturday in the second half of the Academy Season.
The Galaxy Academy U-18’s (8-3-3 overall, 27 pts.) will kick off this weekend’s action when they host Strikers FC U-18’s (6-8-1 overall, 19 pts.) on Saturday, January 5 at 10:00 a.m. PT. The Galaxy U-18’s will be facing the Strikers U-18’s for the second time this season. In their first meeting, also the opening game of the 2014-2015 USSDA season, the Galaxy U-18 squad earned a 5-0 shootout win as four goals from midfielder Adrian Vera and a goal from forward Dylan Smith led the Galaxy to victory.
Saturday’s doubleheader action will conclude at 12:30 p.m., as first place Galaxy Academy U-16’s (9-2-3 overall, 30 pts.) host ninth place Strikers FC U-16’s (5-5-5 overall, 20 pts.) at StubHub Center’s Track and Field Stadium. In their first encounter this season, the Galaxy U-16’s secured a 2-0 road win against the Strikers U-16 squad at Santa Ana College behind a brace from Galaxy Academy U-16 forward Ethan Zubak. The third and final meeting between both teams will take place on Saturday, April 18 at Santa Ana College.
The Galaxy Academy U-18’ and U-16’s are coming off a month break after taking part in the 2014 USSDA Winter Showcase the first week of December.
