CARSON, Calif. (Wednesday, August 7, 2013) – The LA Galaxy announced today that tickets for the club’s home games in the 2013-14 CONCACAF Champions League will go on sale on Friday morning at 10 a.m. (PT). For the third straight year, the Galaxy will play each of their first two games in the Group Stage of the Champions League at home at StubHub Center, hosting Costa Rican side Cartagines on Tuesday, Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. and Isidro Metapan of El Salvador on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. Tickets for each of these games start at $15 and can be purchased online through www.lagalaxy.com/tickets or by calling the club at 877-3GALAXY (342-5299). Galaxy Season Ticket Holders can use their Bonus Game D tickets for the game against Cartagines and will have the opportunity to redeem the same number of complimentary tickets as they have in their regular season plan for the game against Metapan.
Cartagines, the winners of the 1994 CONCACAF Champions’ Cup, and Isidro Metapan join the Galaxy in Group 8 of the Champions League with all teams playing a total of four games, two at home and two away. The group winner will advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals, which begin in the spring of 2014.
The Galaxy, who reached the semifinals of the 2012-13 CONCACAF Champions League, will open play in the 2013-14 edition of the tournament at home on Tuesday, August 20 when they host Cartagines at StubHub Center in a game that begins at 7 p.m. Playing in the Champions League for the first time ever, Cartagines qualified for the tournament by reaching the final of the Costa Rican 2013 Verano championship and feature former Galaxy midfielder Paolo Cardozo. The two sides will meet at Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San Jose, Costa Rica on Wednesday, September 25 at 7 p.m. (PT).
LA’s second and final home game of the tournament’s group stage will be played one week prior to their trip to Costa Rica, on Wednesday, September 18, when they host Isidro Metapan at StubHub Center in a game that will kick off at 7 p.m. The two sides also faced one another in group play of the Champions League a year ago, with the Galaxy winning 5-2 at home and 3-2 on the road en route to winning their group. Metapan, who have competed in the Champions League every year that it has been held, qualified for this year’s tournament by winning the 2012 Apertura championship in El Salvador. They will host the Galaxy at Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador on the final day of Group Stage play, Thursday, October 24.
