CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Aug. 25, 2014) – The LA Galaxy (11-5-7, 40 points) will play in two matches for the second-consecutive week, beginning Wednesday, Aug. 27 when they face Eastern Conference leading D.C. United (13-7-4, 43 points) at StubHub Center at 7:30 p.m. PT live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes. The Galaxy will then face Chivas USA (6-12-6, 24 points) at StubHub Center as visitors in the SuperClasico on Sunday, Aug. 31 at 5:00 p.m. PT live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet and UniMas.
Bruce Arena’s side has lost just twice in the past 14 matches and currently possesses the best goal differential in MLS with +15. The Galaxy are also tied for the fewest goals allowed in Major League Soccer this season with just 26.
In the midweek fixture, the Galaxy will face D.C. United for the first time this year. The Galaxy are 18-13-9 against D.C. United all time, scoring 63 goals in the 40 matches played.
The Galaxy will face Chivas USA for the third and final time this year, with the Galaxy going 1-0-1 in the two previous games. All time, LA are 19-4-7 against Chivas and are unbeaten in their last seven contests. In 17 games against Western Conference foes this season, the Galaxy have only lost twice, going 9-2-6. The Galaxy’s only home loss against Western Conference rivals came against Real Salt Lake in the season opener.
After notching three assists in the last two games, forward Robbie Keane is now tied for tops in MLS. He is the only player to have recorded double digits in both goals and assists. With two game-winning goals last week, Landon Donovan is now tied at 40 with Jeff Cunningham for the most in MLS history.
