LA Galaxy face Montreal Impact and San Jose Earthquakes on the road | Weekly Schedule

CARSON, Calif. (Monday, Sept. 8, 2014) – The LA Galaxy (14-5-7, 49 points) will play in two consecutive away matches this week, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 4:30 p.m. PT in a match against the Montreal Impact (5-16-5, 20 points) at Stade Saputo (Time Warner Cable SportsNet and Time Warner Cable Deportes). The Galaxy will then end the week against the San Jose Earthquakes (6-10-9, 27 points) at Buck Shaw Stadium Sunday, Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. PT (Time Warner Cable SportsNet and UniMás).


In addition to winning five-straight games, Bruce Arena’s side has lost just twice in the past 18 matches and has scored the most goals in MLS this season with 54. They have also allowed the fewest goals this year (27), giving them an MLS best +27 goal differential.


The Galaxy face Montreal for the first time this year. It will mark the just the third time the Galaxy will face Montreal in MLS play and the first time LA have ever played at Stade Saputo. The Galaxy are 1-0-1 against Montreal in their previous two games.


Sunday’s match against San Jose is the third California Clasico this year, with the Galaxy compiling a 1-0-1 in the previous two games. All time, the Galaxy have recorded a 27-18-11 record against their Northern California rivals, scoring 88 goals and adding 113 assists.


Forward Landon Donovan has recorded six assists in his past three games, bringing his career total to 131, just four shy of the all-time MLS assist record. With 14 on the year, Donovan is currently the MLS leader in assists, with teammate Robbie Keane in second with 12. The Galaxy are also the only team to have two players in the top five in MLS scoring, as Robbie Keane (14) and Gyasi Zardes (14) are tied for third. Zardes is the top scoring American in MLS this season and has set a Homegrown Player record for goals scored in a season.
