CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015) – LA Galaxy II have invited goalkeeper Andy Ramos and midfielder Juan Quinonez to train with the team during preseason ahead of the 2015 United Soccer League (USL) season. Ramos and Quinonez were selected by LA Galaxy II coaches and technical staff from hundreds of participants at this past weekend’s second Open Tryout dates of the 2015 preseason.
“Andy and Juan showed their talent this weekend in a competitive atmosphere,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Curt Onalfo. “Our additional Galaxy II tryout dates allowed even more young players to have the opportunity to train with our team in hopes of becoming a professional. We are excited to have them join our group in training.”
Ramos, 24, is a former Cuba Youth National Team Member who has experience for the U-17’s, U-20’s and U-23’s, including playing in Olympic Qualifying matches. In 2012, he made his first appearance for the senior team in a 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying match against Panama. He was also called up to the 2011 Pan American Games. Outside of his international experience, Ramos has played professionally within the United States for the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers (NASL) and Charleston Battery (USL) in addition to FC Edmonton in Canada (NASL).
Quinonez, 22, is a local product from Inglewood, California, who has played for various club teams in Southern California. The midfielder attended Cal State Dominguez Hills, where he played 2 years. Quinonez attended Animo Leadership High School, where he led the Eagles to the CIF semifinals as a Junior and Senior, scoring 21 goals in his final season.
Earlier this month, LA Galaxy II invited Dimeji Sekoni and Javier Moran to train with the team after the duo participated in Los Dos’ first Open Tryout dates, which was attended by over 500 participants from 23 countries.
Los Dos will kick off their second season in USL on Sunday, March 22 against the Real Salt Lake Monarchs at StubHub Center’s Track & Field Stadium, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. PT.
