CARSON, Calif. (Friday, March 13, 2015) – The LA Galaxy have signed 2015 MLS SuperDraft pick Ignacio Maganto, the club announced today. He will join the club’s roster pending the reception of his P-1 Visa and will occupy an International roster spot. Per MLS and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Ignacio had a strong preseason and showed his talent in our games and training sessions,” said head Coach and General Manager Bruce Arena. “We are happy to add him to our roster and look forward to his development going forward.”
Maganto, 23, scored 27 goals and notched 14 assists in four years at Iona College, including a career-high 11 goals and five assists his senior year when he was named to the NSCAA All-Northeast Region First Team, the ECAC All-Star First Team and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Year.
Born in Madrid, Spain, Maganto spent time with Getafe CF’s Academy before he attended Iona College. He also was a member of Reading United A.C. in the Premier Development League in 2014.
