CARSON, Calif. (Monday, June 9, 2014) – The LA Galaxy (4-3-5, 17 points) will take three days off to start the week as Major League Soccer breaks for Group Play of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Galaxy will then return to training on Thursday in advance of their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup clash against Arizona United SC at the Peoria Sports Complex on Wednesday, June 18 at 7:30 p.m. PT.
During the break from MLS play the Galaxy will support Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez and the United States National Team as it competes in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. For the first U.S.match the club will host an outdoor viewing of the United States match against Ghana on Monday, June 16 at 3:00 p.m. PT at the Hermosa Beach Pier. The match will mark the start of the U.S. participation in the 32-team tournament. The event is free and open to the public.
On Sunday, June 22, the club will show the highly anticipated U.S. match against European power Portugal live at Lot 613 (613 Imperial Street) in Los Angeles. More details about this exclusive viewing party will be released in the coming days.
Following the U.S. Open Cup fixture the Galaxy will then return to MLS action when they travel north to face their rivals the San Jose Earthquakes at Stanford Stadium on Saturday, June 28 at 7:30 pm PT live on NBC Sports Network.
