CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, July 8, 2014) – Manchester United announced today the initial details of their travelling squad for the Chevrolet FC Cup against the LA Galaxy on Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. PT at the Rose Bowl Stadium. The squad will depart for their pre-season tour of the United States on Friday, July 18 with many new faces joining the team for the first time. United’s complete traveling roster will be announced at a later date.
Fresh from his exploits with the Netherlands at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, new manager Louis van Gaal will make his coaching debut in United’s match against the LA Galaxy in Pasadena.
Many of United’s World Cup players will also be in attendance for the duration of the tour including England’s Wayne Rooney, Spanish goalkeeper David De Gea, Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa, and Spain’s Juan Mata.
Additionally, new United additions Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw will also be part of the travelling squad as they look to make their debut for the English Premier League giants.
Individual tickets, starting at $35, are available for purchase via Ticketmaster. Fans can receive discounts on their seats by purchasing an LA Galaxy group or multi-game plan or by becoming a Season Ticket Member. Galaxy Season Ticket Members will receive the same number of seats at Rose Bowl Stadium as they have in their full season plan and have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets at a discount off face value prices. Supporters are urged to arrive to the Rose Bowl Stadium early.
After the opening match against LA Galaxy, United will then take part in the International Champions Cup facing AS Roma in Denver (Saturday 26th July), Inter Milan in Washington DC (Tuesday 29th July) and Real Madrid in Michigan (Saturday 2nd August). If United make the final of the competition, the pre-season tour will conclude with the final in Miami on Monday 4th August.
