LOS ANGELES (Monday, Feb. 21, 2022) – Kicking off the 2022 MLS Regular Season, the LA Galaxy play host to New York City FC in the home opener at Dignity Health Sports Park (2:00 p.m. PT; ESPN, ESPN Deportes) on Sunday, Feb. 27.
The Feb. 27 match against NYCFC marks the 14th time the Galaxy will open their home schedule against an Eastern Conference opponent. Since 1996, LA holds a 16-8-2 record in 26 MLS home openers. Sunday’s match marks the sixth regular-season meeting between LA and New York City, with the Galaxy trailing the series 1-4-0. In the first-ever meeting between the two teams, the Galaxy earned a 5-1 victory over NYCFC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Aug. 23, 2015. In the last meeting between the Galaxy and New York City, LA fell 2-0 at home on May 11, 2019.
