WASHINGTON – For a few weeks in September, Omar Gonzalez was one of the most talked about people in all of the United States.
No, it wasn’t LA Galaxy and U.S. National Team stalwart Omar Gonzalez, but Omar J. Gonzalez, a 42-year-old man who on Sept. 19 jumped a White House fence and entered the storied building before being brought down by security.
When the news of the fence-jumper broke, many joked that the intruder was in fact, the LA Galaxy defender, and so when the soccer playing Gonzalez made his own trip to the White House to celebrate LA’s MLS Cup title, he decided to have a little fun with the connection.
Using the hashtag #OmarsComin, Gonzalez sent a series of tweets chronicling his own entrance complete with the U.S. international hiding behind a bush and even having a run in with a member of the Secret Service.
