CARSON, Calif. (Monday, May 1, 2015) – LA Galaxy forward Robbie Keane has been called up to the Republic of Ireland National Team for two June matches in Europe. Ireland will face England Sunday, June 7 in Dublin before hosting Scotland in a UEFA EURO 2016 Qualifying match.
Keane will depart for international duty following the Galaxy’s match this Saturday, June 6 against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at StubHub Center. He will be unavailable for selection when the Galaxy travel for a match against Columbus Crew SC Saturday, June 13 at MAPFRE Stadium.
Keane is Ireland’s captain and all-time leading scorer with 65 international goals. He has helped Ireland to earn 8 points from five matches in Group D of EURO 2016 Qualifying. This year in MLS, Keane has recorded two goals and one assist in six MLS appearances. He now has 55 goals and 36 assists in just 90 MLS appearances all time for LA.
