CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano’s Three Points to the Galaxy’s 4-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls. Robbie Keane, Landon Donovan and Gyasi Zardes each scored in the victory as LA remained tied with Seattle Sounders FC on points atop the MLS standings. LA’s unbeaten streak is now at nine games.

The best player to ever suit up in MLS added yet another honor to his sterling resume.
Landon Donovan notched three assists in the LA Galaxy’s 4-0 thumping of the New York Red Bulls to tie New England Revolution mainstay Steve Ralston’s MLS all-time assist record of 135. Donovan was masterful from the start as he made a heads-up play to shimmy past the New York defense and then found Keane who beat goalkeeper Luis Robles from a tough angle.
Donovan officially caught Ralston in the 82nd minute when he launched a pinpoint through-ball to Robbie Keane who slotted in his second goal of the evening to give the American soccer legend yet another record.
ROBBIE KEANE MAKES MVP CASE AS LA DOMINATE NEW YORK
The LA Galaxy’s match with the New York Red Bulls was billed as a battle of MVP candidates Robbie Keane and Bradley Wright-Phillips, but at the final whistle only the Irishman was left standing.
Keane notched a brace as the Galaxy dominated the Red Bulls from start to finish in a stylish performance. The Irishman scored the opener after just eight minutes when he chipped Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles after a beautiful setup by Landon Donovan. Keane found the back of the net again in the 82nd minute by tormenting Robles as he nutmegged the goalkeeper and then cleaned up the rebound.
The dominant performance against New York is only the latest stellar showing for Keane who has now scored an MLS career-high 17 goals to go along with his 15 assists this season. After yet another masterful performance, expect the MVP buzz to continue to intensify for Keane.
PENEDO AND DEFENSE KEEP LA AFLOAT
The LA Galaxy’s high-power attack ruled the day against the Red Bulls, but clutch defending and steady goalkeeping from Jaime Penedo preserved the result when New York looked primed to get back in the match.
Throughout the first half, the Red Bulls pressed the Galaxy repeatedly with Thierry Henry and MLS leading goal scorer Bradley Wright-Phillips testing the defense. However time and time again, the center back tandem of A.J. DeLaGarza and Omar Gonzalez were there to make the timely tackle. DeLaGarza in particular repeatedly snuffed out several Red Bulls attempts with some heroic decisive tackles.
When the Red Bulls did break through the Galaxy defense, Penedo was there to make the stop as the Panamanian ended the match with four saves en route to his seventh shutout of the season. In total, the Galaxy have only allowed 31 goals in 30 games played this year.
