CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy took a dip in the three most prominent MLS Power Rankings after the team's 2-1 defeat to FC Dallas last week.
The Galaxy fell in all three rankings with MLSsoccer.com ranking Los Angeles 10th, while the Galaxy were placed 14th and 16th on SI.com and ESPN FC. The Galaxy return to action this week against the Portland Timbers.
The rankings and their explanations are below:
"The first game of a new era wasn't inspiring, but there are clearly going to be more moves made by the Galaxy. In the short term, though, there are real worries about their chemistry in central midfield on both sides of the ball."
"The Galaxy held the lion’s share of possession at home against FC Dallas, but couldn’t turn that time on the ball into clear-cut scoring chances. The Galaxy’s lone goal in a 2–1 loss came via Giovani Dos Santos’s penalty kick. It’s a disappointing start for a Galaxy team that has the talent to do much better. Perhaps Gyasi Zardes, who missed this match with an injury, can provide some scoring punch upon his return."
"The new look LA Galaxy got off to a sputtering start, controlling possession but failing to create chances against FC Dallas."
