Mexico’s ticket to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is already punched, but Juan Carlos Osorio’s side is out for another victory on Tuesday against Costa Rica.
El Tri will face off against the Ticos on Tuesday in the Costa Rican capital of San Jose. Mexico will not be the only riding momentum heading into the game as Costa Rica returns to action after their 2-0 win over the United States at Red Bull Arena last Friday.
With qualification secured, Osorio will likely rotate his squad for Tuesday’s match with Galaxy stars Giovani and Jonathan dos Santos expected to see time in the World Cup qualifier. Should Giovani make an appearance in Costa Rica, it will be the Galaxy striker’s 100th career cap for his national team.
The Costa Ricans will be highly motivated heading into Tuesday’s match as they can join Mexico as the second team from CONCACAF to qualify for Russia. The Ticos can reach the 2018 World Cup with a win OR a draw and a win from either the USA or Honduras OR a draw and a tie or loss from Panama.
