FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Ari Lassiter finally got the “monkey off his back” on Saturday.
The LA Galaxy striker notched his first career MLS goal in the closing minutes of the Galaxy’s 4-3 defeat to the New England Revolution. The tally helped the son of MLS great Roy Lassiter join an exclusive club as the duo became the fifth father-and-son combo to score in MLS.
Despite the result, Lassiter was pleased to get the back of the net.
“The monkey is off my back. This was my first MLS goal, and I’m just looking to build from it going forward,” Lassiter, who has four goals in all competitions this season, told LA Galaxy Insider. “I want to continue to get into good spots and to help the team in any way that I can and [Saturday] that was finding the back of the net.
“We pulled to within reaching distance, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out the way we wanted it to go. We’ve just got to come back from this [loss] and move forward.”
