CARSON, Calif. – Brian Rowe believes he’s moved a step closer to regaining his top form after an impressive showing during the second half of the LA Galaxy’s exhibition with Manchester United last weekend.
Rowe went 45 minutes, making three saves and conceding twice in United’s 5-2 exhibition victory over the Galaxy. Against United, Rowe looked much improved from his U.S. Open Cup appearance earlier in the week and helped Los Angeles keep the high-powered Manchester outfit at bay in the second half.
Eager to build on his showing on Wednesday when the Galaxy host Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Rowe admits that he’s close to being back in the same stellar form that he enjoyed before his injury.
“I feel really good right now. Playing in that Man United game and making a couple of saves like that in a game helped me feel comfortable. It’s helped me get back in the rhythm, and I’m training well to get back in that good way again,” Rowe said. “It’s good minutes to get against a really good opponent. There’s no pressure, and you don’t look at the standings. It’s one where you have the luxury of not trying to get the result.”
With Rowe and others healthy once more, the Galaxy 'keeper is confident that his team can return to winning ways at home.
"It’s a huge game where we can pick up some points and hopefully, we’ll be able to have some of our injured guys able to come back. We’re getting into the second half of the season, we want to win, and we want to perform well," Rowe said. "I hate to put the title of calling it a must win game because we don’t want to put added pressure on it. The more pressure you put on it, the more tight players play and the more you're not playing as yourself because you’re not relaxed and able to execute. But we have a lot of experienced players who have dealt with adversity. We know what it takes to get done."
