In honor of #GalaxySocial Night on Saturday, LA Galaxy midfielder Steven Gerrard held a special live Facebook Q&A interview moderated by Time Warner Cable SportsNet’s Kelli Tennant.
The interview ran for nearly 30 minutes and touched on Gerrard’s life in Los Angeles, his memories of his time with Liverpool and his thoughts about certain LA Galaxy teammates.
Check out a few highlights below:
What’s your favorite place to hang out in L.A.?
GERRARD: “Home. I like to spend with my family out in Beverly Hills. I’m very fortunate to be able to rent an apartment out there. Once the hard work is done making it up the 405, I can hang out there and chill out at a few coffee shops and restaurants.”
What’s your favorite all-time favorite soccer memory?
GERRARD: “The Champions League final in 2005. Just the way the game panned out, being three down at halftime and thinking the dream was over, then the crazy turnaround and the miracle of Istanbul will live long in my memory.”
Who is the funniest teammate on the Galaxy?
GERRARD: “I’m something fun with Jelle Van Damme. He’s full of energy for his age. I’m having some fun with this guy, but for me, Keano always makes me laugh. He’s always moaning and complaining and he’s never happy. I get a buzz out of it because I’m a bit of a moaner myself, but he does all the moaning for me. It tickles me.”
On In N Out:
GERRARD: “I used to enjoy McDonalds maybe once every couple of months as a treat, but McDonalds has been parked out since I went to In N Out.
On being booed:
“I think you get booed for a reason because people see you as a threat. When you go unnoticed in a game, you’re probably not playing up to your level that you want to play at. I love banter from opposition fans. I don’t mind getting booed at all. I’ve had moments with my own supporter, that’s football and life. You have to take it on the chin and be man enough to accept it.”
On the EPL title race:
“I think Leicester will hang on. I think we’re running out of games anything to change. Spurs will run them very close. They’ve got Swansea away next, Leicester and if they take maximum points then it’ll be their title, but anything can happen. I’ve been in this position myself and it’s managed to slip out of our hands; it’s been such a unique season in the EPL.”
“I think Liverpool will win the Europa League. I’ve got a side bet with Giovani dos Santos because his brother plays for Villarreal. We’ve got a dinner bet on that fixture. Whoever wins gets to pick and I know some expensive restaurants. This is a big bet. Whoever gets to win has to treat the other to a meal. He thinks it’s a three course meal but I like five courses.”
Favorite restaurant in L.A.:
GERRARD: “Nobu in Malibu.”
