MINNEAPOLIS – Brian Rowe enjoyed one of his best performances of the 2017 campaign on Sunday as he backstopped the Galaxy to a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United.
Rowe made four saves in the win on Sunday as Los Angeles extended their unbeaten run to four games. Not only did Rowe make four stops, but the 28-year-old was active off his line making six catches to keep the Loons off the board for wide stretches of the game.
Despite being in his sixth season with the club, Rowe admits that he has raised his game a notch in recent weeks.
“Of course, the more games that I get, the more I progress as a player and the more comfortable I feel out there,” Rowe said. “When the guys in front of me are fighting hard, I’m just trying to do whatever I can to keep us in it.”
Not only does Rowe believe that his game has improved in recent weeks, but he also credits the competition between him and Clement Diop as providing motivation. The two talented netminders have split time in goal this season with Rowe making six appearances to Diop's five.
“It’s one of those things you have to look at in a positive way. You want to stay motivated, you want to keep working, you want to want to get back there,” Rowe said. “You can’t look at it negatively and say “well this is it.” You just kind of have to say “well alright, I have to work to get back there.
“That’s the way I like to look at things, with a positive spin and that’s what helped, I’m just trying to keep it going now.”
