CARSON, Calif. – It’s safe to say that Bruce Arena is pleased that the LA Galaxy will begin the 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs at StubHub Center.
Los Angeles will end their 2016 MLS regular season campaign on Sunday when they host the Supporters’ Shield leading FC Dallas, having secured the third seed in the Western Conference a week earlier. Thanks to their win over the Houston Dynamo, the Galaxy will get to host their Knockout Round match on either Oct. 26 or Oct. 27 at StubHub Center.
“It’s better than being on the road,” Arena said. “You’ve got to take advantage of it. That’s why they call it home-field advantage. If you don’t, they just call it home field. But we want to use it as an advantage, certainly.”
After the Galaxy were bounced from the playoffs in a road Knockout Round game a year earlier, Arena is eager to start the 2016 postseason in Southern California.
“Last year on the last week of the season, we were in Guatemala City, Kansas City, and Seattle,” Arena said. “This year, we’re going to be in Los Angeles for two games, and if we win the second one, we’ll be at home for the third one. That’s a heck of a lot better than it was in 2015.”
