COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Bruce Arena addressed the media after the LA Galaxy’s 1-0 defeat to the Colorado Rapids.
(On the five minutes of added time)
ARENA: That was remarkable. It was bad judgment by the referee and bad judgment by the fourth official not to question it. That’s a 93-minute game at most. To lose in the 95th minute is a crime. It’s disgraceful.
(On if Brian Rowe played a great game…)
ARENA: He did, but let’s be fair, it was a crappy game. It was a crappy game. In all fairness, we would have walked off with a point, and that’s it.
(On if a point would have been a win for the Galaxy…)
ARENA: A point on the road is always nice. Our guys deserved that, but it was remarkable that five minutes of extra time was added. Remarkable.
(On his team’s first half performance…)
ARENA: “The game was crappy. The whole game was crappy.”
(On how difficult the altitude was for the Galaxy…)
ARENA: The conditions were hard for both teams. The officiating was obviously very inconsistent, but neither team played particularly well. It’s still early in the year. The altitude is a challenge for both teams this time of year not only us but for Colorado as well. It’s also always nice to have a few extra minutes added to the game as well in altitude. Completely ridiculous.
(On the effect of the wind…)
ARENA: The wind was bad. You could see how many balls were out of bounds [or] hit to the goalkeepers. It was difficult.
