CARSON, Calif -- Clement Diop and Senegal moved another step closer to the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde on Saturday.
Keita Balde and Moussa Sow scored as Senegal defeated Cape Verde to go top of 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification Group D. The LA Galaxy goalkeeper was an unused substitute in the victory.
The Lions of Teranga’s win sets up two decisive games against South Africa. Senegal will take on the South Africans on the road on Nov. 10 and then host Bafana Bafana on Nov. 14. Four points from the two games will send Senegal to their first World Cup since the 2002 tournament regardless of other results.
