Cristian Pavón earns high praise after role in LA Galaxy victory over FC Dallas: "He is the difference"

LOS ANGELES –There were plenty of high marks for LA Galaxy forward Cristian Pavón following his home debut for the LA Galaxy.

The talented Argentine winger shined as the Galaxy earned a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas thanks to a pair of Zlatan Ibrahimović. In his first match at Dignity Health Sports Park, Pavón once again helped push the Galaxy attack forward as he registered an assist while also proving to be a two-way threat for Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s squad.

Throughout his 85-minute shift, the Argentine international seemed right at home with his new squad despite in only his second match with the club in less than a week.

“The truth is from the little time I’ve been here, I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learned to be calm, to know that you are given the possibility to play your game,” he said. “As games pass by and as days pass by as well, as the months' pass, I’ll be able to adapt better.”

“I feel great here. I wanted to come here since the beginning, when the opportunity was brought up. I am very happy here, and we will be pushing for more.”

His new teammate Zlatan Ibrahimović provided the most telling compliment postgame, merely stating that the Argentine is “too good” for the league.

“[He’s] very good. I think MLS will not have him for a long time. We should enjoy him while he is here. ... I’ve played with many players, and I see when a player is the difference. He is the difference.

“I think any team would miss a player like that. We will be thankful and happy that he is with us now.”

Pavón will look to continue his string of positive performances – and perhaps find the back of the net for the first time – this Saturday when Los Angeles host Seattle Sounders FC. With the Galaxy fighting for a playoff berth, the team’s new Argentine attacker is desperate to continue to make an impact.

“I know my teammates have been fighting hard this year,” he said. “Now I have the opportunity to be here and also try and help the team, try to continue pushing forward and continue winning every game which our goal is to get higher in the standings.”
