HARRISON, N.J. – Romain Alessandrini has proven in a short time that he’s quite the road warrior for the LA Galaxy.
Alessandrini notched a brace and won a penalty in the Galaxy’s 3-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls to give Los Angeles their first win on the East Coast since 2013. The performance was just his latest show on the road as the Frenchman has notched five goals and two assists in four away matches this season.
As for a reason for his road success, head coach Curt Onalfo believes Alessandrini’s mentality helps him deliver.
“There's nobody like him, quite frankly, and we knew that. He's done everything we knew he could do,” the Galaxy head coach said. “I mean, certainly the way he goes about his game, whether it's home or away, he's a winner. He's got a great work ethic, and he knows that his coach and club believes in him, and it's a good feeling when you feel that way as a player.”
Alessandrini will have three more chances to add to road prowess starting with this weekend’s trip to face Minnesota United. Determined to keep his hot streak alive, Alessandrini says he’s ready for the challenge.
“I try every time to give my best. [Sunday] was key, I scored twice, and I helped my team to win," he said. "It’s difficult to cross the country, but I try to get used to everything because everything has changed. The country, the league, the soccer, everything is different. So, every time out, I try to give everything and [Sunday] I was the key.”
