ORLANDO, Fla – David Bingham put forth one of his finest performances in an LA Galaxy shirt on Friday evening to lift his side to a 1-0 road victory over Orlando City SC and snap their four-game losing skid.
A Jonathan dos Santos screamer from distance was the decisive goal, but it was the Galaxy’s tenacious defense that stole the show as Los Angeles kept the Lions at bay to seal the win. Bingham was brilliant in the victory making six saves in a dominant showing.
The goalkeeper wasn’t alone, however, as the Galaxy’s defending was resolute racking up 36 clearances to seal a win that head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto hopes proves decisive for his team.
"We needed to win, we needed to recover on the points that we lost points to Colorado a week ago," The Galaxy boss said. "We needed to fight more. I think we are a really good team, very big club, we need to fight like Galaxy. I think today was wonderful because the players fought, the players tried to play and won three points which are very important to us.”
As for Bingham, the performance was just what the doctor ordered to help the Galaxy break out of their slump.
“We knew we had to come here and get three points and we had to be locked in the whole game and luckily I was able to make some big saves tonight and keep us in it," Bingham said.
“Three points are massive on the road, we’re not happy with how we played and we shouldn’t be, but at the end of the day we’d rather play bad and pick up three points than play good and lose."
