CARSON, Calif. – Giovani dos Santos is in high spirits after returning to the Mexican national team.
The 27-year-old LA Galaxy striker was called by Mexico’s squad for their upcoming matches against New Zealand on Oct. 8 and Panama on Oct. 11. Dos Santos’ call-up is his first appearance on Mexico’s roster for a year, with his last international appearance coming on July 13, 2015.
This season, Dos Santos has shined with 14 goals and 12 assists in 26 appearances for the Galaxy. After a long year on the outside of the Mexico setup, Dos Santos is eager to return to El Tri.
“I feel very happy to be back with the national team after a year of not being there. I’ve been working really hard to be back there, and I’m excited to get back to the national team,” Dos Santos told LAGalaxy.com. “I’ve been working really hard this year, I feel like I’m in good shape right now, I go there with a lot of confidence, and I’ll try to do my best to help my national team.”
Dos Santos will join up with Mexico’s national team following the Galaxy’s match with FC Dallas on Saturday and then return to the squad before their Oct. 15 match against the Houston Dynamo.
